Peter's Billiards
Peter's Billiards has been located off highway 62 in Richfield for as long as I can remember. I have driven past it countless times, but have never been inside. My interest we peaked when they rebuilt after the highway reconstruction. But still, several years have past and I still haven't ventured inside. So we decided to make a family outing of a visit there. We probably spent about an hour there, playing a few of the games and trying out some of the furniture. They certainly have a wide array of products there! We especially liked the indoor shuffleboard tables. But their size and cost prohibited us from bringing one home!

Slipcovers for the Living Room
After much deliberation and research, I decided I would take the plunge and order some slipcovers for our living room furniture. The existing furniture upholstery was looking kind of shabby, but overall it was still sturdy. A few brief shopping trips proved new furniture was just not in the budget any time soon. I settled on Sure Fit, a mail-order company which specializes in slipcovers. I ordered traditional fitting ones for the couch and love seat and a contrasting stretch-fit one for the chair and ottoman. They arrived today and I was able to install them quickly and easily just as they demonstrate in their videos. I am very happy with the results and they slipcovers do indeed stay in place as advertised!

La Mixteca Restaurant
Peter and I decided to try a new restaurant for our lunch date today. We went to La Mixteca on Portland Avenue just south of 494. It was good, but definitely nothing fancy. We were the only customers the whole time we were there!

TJ's of Edina
Peter and I had a lunch date today and he took me to a new restaurant. It's called TJ's of Edina and it's located not far from the Hwy 100 & 70th St intersection. It was wonderful! I will definitely be going back here soon! We both had the spicy chicken Alfredo The portions were perfect, the food was tasty, prices were reasonable and the service was friendly and prompt. I would categorize this restaurant as a family-friendly restaurant, but you could also have a casual business lunch here as well. Food was mostly American, but there were Italian options and Gyros as well.

McDonald's McRib Sandwich
I had misgivings about this new item. It was to try a McRib sandwich from McDonald's. I certainly wouldn't have tried it if I weren't on the new 52 program! The verdict? I will give it an "OK". I don't think I will have one again, but at least now I know what they are all about.

Cooking Lobster
I have had lobster in the past (many years ago!), but I have never made it myself. Tonight the first official family new 52 item was making lobster at home. We passed up the opportunity to purchase live lobsters at the store in favor of lobster tails. None of us could wrap our heads around putting a live lobster into a pot of boiling water. It was quite easy to plop in several tails and watch them turn red as they cooked. The verdict? Peter and I loved them, our oldest liked them, and our youngest couldn't eat more than two bites -- ick!

Volunteer Experience
My daughter needed to get some service hours for her FACS class so she signed up to serve meals for the Loaves and Fishes program at Creekside Community Center. I decided to join her for her first time this evening, so it was my first time doing this as well. I was surprised to discover one of my friends serving this evening as well, and two of the other servers were acquaintances. My daughter knew most of the other kids serving too. As far as volunteering goes, I found this very fun. I was serving beverages and clearing tables. The time went by quickly and I knew I was appreciated. I would do this again!
